This course is available for students who have no qualifications and want to achieve a Level 3 and Level 4 Sports Massage qualification within 9 months.
Please note: Students are required to attend all of the dates listed below as well as fully participate in all practicals by giving and receiving treatments. Students will be required to pay for private tutorials with the Tutor for any missed sessions before the next course date as per our Terms and Conditions.

On this course you will learn:
Sports Massage Theory & Practice
- Various body systems including cells and tissues, skin, skeletal, muscular, cardiovascular, lymphatic, nervous, endocrine, digestive, respiratory, reproductive and urinary
- The principals and practical techniques of classical body massage as well as sports massage techniques
- Using forearms, knuckles and elbows to provide deeper techniques in order to treat a variety of day to day injuries as well as sports related injuries using the correct body posture and pressure
- How to develop a massage routine for each individual client
- The benefits and contraindications of sports massage including soft tissue repair
- Pre and post massage
- Postural assessment of each client and how their biomechanics affects their body
- The benefits of exercise and leading a healthy lifestyle
- Legal obligations
- Sports massage techniques to include CTM, STR, MET, Frictions, Trigger Points
- How to carry out subjective and objective postural assessment on clients and how their biomechanics affect their bodies
- Functional anatomy in order to identify various anatomical landmarks on the body including insertion and origins of muscles
- Using thermotherapy and cryotherapy for soft tissue repair
- Remedial exercise
Assignments and Assessments
There will be quite a lot of time required for you to study at home – a minimum of 5 hours per week
Requirements for the Level 3 qualification which need to be completed within 4 months:
- 3 assignments to complete
- 3 treatments on 3 clients some of which will need to be done at sporting events
- 1 multiple choice paper for Anatomy & Physiology lasting 30 minutes
- A practical examination lasting 1 hour
Requirements for the Level 4 qualification which will take a further 5 months to complete:
- 1 assignment
- 10 treatments to be completed on a minimum of 5 clients
- A practical examination lasting 1 hour
This combined course should only be taken if you have a good academic level and are very organised to complete all the relevant assignments and treatments within a very short period.
If you are a complete beginner and wish to take longer with your studies, you should consider enrolling on the L3 Sports Massage Diploma and taking the L4 Sports Massage Diploma later in the year. Please contact us to discuss your individual mode of study.
After Qualification
Following successful completion of your course, therapists have gone on to work in clinics, gyms, cruise ships, health clubs, sports clubs, hotels, do home visits or open their own practice to treat clients from.
